These leaders not only guide the strategic direction of our flagship conferences in Austin, Boston, Philadelphia, and Silicon Valley, but they also help ensure that every CFW experience delivers practical insights, authentic connections, and lasting impact.

Each board member brings passion, perspective, and expertise to their role—working year-round to ensure our programming supports professionals at every career stage, in every industry. Their deep local roots and national reach help CFW foster communities where individuals and teams can grow and lead and build workplaces where everyone can thrive.

Lorina Marshall-Blake

President
Independence Blue Cross Foundation

Rev. Dr. Lorina Marshall-Blake is the president of the Independence Blue Cross Foundation (the Foundation), a charitable, private foundation founded in 2011, and the vice president of community affairs at Independence Blue Cross (Independence). In her role with the Foundation, she leads strategic, programmatic, and operational efforts to fulfill the Foundation’s mission to lead sustainable solutions that improve the health and wellness of the community. Under her leadership, the Foundation has established itself as a collaborator, innovator, and thought leader in addressing emerging health needs in southeastern Pennsylvania. As the vice president of community affairs, Marshall-Blake develops and manages relationships with community partners to advance Independence’s social mission efforts. Marshall-Blake is passionate about giving back to the community. She is involved with more than 30 professional and civic organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League and the United Negro College Fund, and is the former president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Omega Omega Chapter. She is also an associate minister at the Vine Memorial Baptist Church in Philadelphia. Currently, she also serves on more than 25 non-profit boards and committees including the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association — Corporate Responsibility Committee, The Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia’s Paradigm Award & Scholarship Committee, the Urban Affairs Coalition, and the Urban League of Philadelphia. Marshall-Blake also serves on Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions Executive Advisory Council and Rutgers School of Nursing — Camden Dean’s Leadership Circle. She is also an Honorary Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and was appointed to the National Advisory Council on Nursing Education and Practice.

Susan Slawson

With over 30 years of dedicated service to fostering community engagement, Susan Slawson is a visionary leader in parks and recreation. A graduate of Geneva College with a degree in Business Management, Susan combines her business acumen with a deep passion for sustainability and community development. Her instinctive understanding of community dynamics has earned her widespread reverence, trust, and respect throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. Susan was sworn in under Mayor Cherelle L. Parker in 2024 and is deeply aligned with the mayor’s vision of making Philadelphia “a Safer, Cleaner, and Greener City, with Access to Economic Opportunity for All.” Her work exemplifies this mission by creating inclusive, vibrant, and sustainable park spaces that enhance public life and promote a higher quality of living. She firmly believes that accessible, diverse recreational programs can transform neighborhoods, making them more desirable places to live, work, and play. As the commissioner of Parks & Recreation for eight years prior to the merger of Fairmount Park and the Department of Recreation, Susan oversaw strategic planning and programming for over 150 recreation centers and playgrounds across every neighborhood in Philadelphia. Her tenure was marked by innovation and resilience, particularly during the economic downturn of 2008. Under her leadership, the department secured significant federal grant funding to reduce the digital divide, introducing 25 KEYSPOT computer labs with internet access across the recreation system. She also successfully raised over $4 million to keep outdoor pools operational during this challenging period, ensuring critical community resources remained available. Currently, Susan continues to collaborate closely with City Council members to plan capital projects and budgets. Her expertise in building partnerships with community organizations, neighborhood groups, and city departments highlights her commitment to operational excellence and collaborative leadership. Guided by an unwavering vision for progress, Susan’s work leaves an indelible mark on the community, inspiring a brighter, more inclusive future for all, fully embracing the promise of a safer, cleaner, and greener Philadelphia.

 

Nicole Stovall

VP, Global Diversity & Inclusion Center of Excellence
Merck

Nicole Stovall is Vice President of Merck’s Global Diversity & Inclusion Center of Excellence (GDI CoE), bringing a distinctive blend of legal, ethics, investigations, and business leadership experience to her role. Since leading the GDI CoE from April 2025 to present, Nicole has focused on embedding inclusion into the everyday workflows of the business, linking inclusive practices to measurable business outcomes, advancing fairness throughout the company and strengthening belonging across global teams. Prior to this role, Nicole spent more than two decades in Merck’s Office of the General Counsel, where she led employment and labor legal teams and later the company’s global investigations function. In those roles, she advised senior executives on complex workplace, culture, and compliance matters; led enterprise training and communications that strengthened ethical leadership and speak-up culture; and guided high-stakes people decisions across regions and business lines.  Nicole is widely regarded as a problem solver who is able to navigate complexity with clarity, precision and empathy.  Based on Nicole’s unique experiences, she is deeply attuned to the connection between culture, risk, talent, and business performance—and built the broad expertise she now brings to advancing inclusion as a strategic business capability. Nicole holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Columbia Law School.  Nicole is married to her husband Tony and the proud mother of two daughters, Myla and Sydney.

Celeste Warren

Pennsylvania Conference for Women

Celeste Warren is a visionary leader who had an impressive 28-year tenure at Merck, where she rose to the esteemed position of Vice President and Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer. During her decade-long leadership of the Global Diversity and Inclusion Center of Excellence, Celeste implemented groundbreaking initiatives that fostered a culture of inclusivity and equity, setting new standards in the industry.

After her retirement, Celeste founded Celeste Warren Consulting, LLC, where she passionately continues her mission to reshape the landscape of diversity and inclusion. Her consulting services empower organizations to create fair and equitable opportunities for all, driving meaningful change and enhancing workplace culture.

In addition to her consulting work, Celeste, alongside her two children, established Destination STEM, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing vital resources and support to students of color and those in need pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics (STEM).

Throughout her illustrious career, Celeste has championed diversity, equity, and inclusion on a global scale, elevating the importance of understanding diverse cultures, perspectives, and beliefs within corporate strategies. Her visionary approach not only reshaped Merck’s internal culture but also influenced the broader business landscape, empowering organizations worldwide to embrace inclusivity as a cornerstone of success.

Recognized internationally for her pivotal contributions, Celeste has inspired countless individuals and organizations to commit to meaningful change, fostering environments where everyone can thrive. She has been recognized for her work in diversity, equity and inclusion including:

Celeste is a published author and her articles on diversity, equity and inclusion have been featured in numerous national and global publications and she has had the opportunity to speak at various events across the world.

Celeste attended the University of Kentucky where she earned her B.S. degree. She received her master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University.

She is the wife of John Warren and the mother of two children, Christina-Celeste and John Steven, Jr.

Karen Farmer White

KAREN FARMER WHITE is a founding board member and secretary of the Pennsylvania Conference for Women that is celebrating 20 years in 2023. She is the current chair of the Pennsylvania State Board of Education. Previously, she was the managing director of the Pennsylvania office of Mesirow Financial. Prior to Mesirow, White was the vice president of Education at WQED Multimedia, where she won three Mid-Atlantic Emmys for her work in educational television programming. White serves as board chair of Seton Hill University and the FISA Foundation. In addition, she serves on the boards of the Urban League of Pittsburgh and the regional advisory board of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. White has received numerous awards for community service including: The Moe Coleman Award for Excellence from the University of Pittsburgh Institute of Politics, Pittsburgh BusinessTimes Women of Influence, YWCA Woman of Spirit Award, and named as an Influential Black Woman by the New Pittsburgh Courier. She worked on her doctorate of education at the University of Pittsburgh where she previously earned her Masters of public administration from the Graduate School of Public Affairs, and is a graduate of the executive management program at the Katz Graduate School of Business. She is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh class XII. White has previously served on numerous boards and committees including: Point Park University board, City Theater board, Pennsylvania Healthcare Cost Containment Council, The Pennsylvania Humanities Commission, and served as the eastern area board representative to the National Association of State Boards of Education. In her free time, she enjoys opportunities to serve as a mentor/ advisor to young women in the Pittsburgh area.

Alison Young

HON. ALISON YOUNG is managing partner of Red, White and Blue Strategies, and chair of the firm’s leadership training practice group. A certified coach and nationally recognized expert on emotional intelligence, Young advises international NGOs, hedge funds, and corporate clients on leadership, culture, and philanthropy. Young is an on-air contributor for BCC (London), Dan Abrams Live (national), and 6ABC’s Inside Story (Philadelphia). Young also serves on the faculty of The Campaign School at Yale. She previously served as executive director of the Institute for Strategic Leadership in Drexel’s LeBow College of Business and as VP for external affairs at the National Constitution Center. In 2017, Young was named as Eisenhower Fellow to China, studying the underrepresentation of women in G20 governments. Young is a former Senior White House Official, having served as a special assistant to President George W. Bush and director of USA Freedom Corps. Young earned a BA from Grove City College, an MA from George Washington University, and is currently a doctoral candidate at NYU. She is an appointed Commissioner to the Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial in 2026. Young serves as a board member for multiple organizations including the Pennsylvania Conference for Women and the Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc. She is a member of the Forum of Executive Women and the Pennsylvania Society.

Lisa Heritage McLin

Lisa Heritage McLin has over 20 years of experience in Technology industry, taking on roles in all areas of the business from Staff Accountant, Customer Experience, Sales Leader, Transformation leader, Go-To-Market Leader and Alliances & Channel Chief.

McLin is known for her strengths in strategy and execution, of growing partner relationships, direct sales and customer satisfaction propelling organizational revenue, while serving as a visionary, known for directly mastering the development of high-velocity sales organizations. Focusing around a repeatable sales process & methodologies, while owning accountability for profit-generating programs, and building alliance & partnership strategies across global market segments. This has led to double digit revenue growth and global expansion. McLin leads with her servant leader style; develops strong winning teams, and heavily invested in mentoring and advancing the careers of those around her.

McLin has received 50 Most Influential Channel Chiefs of 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 recognized and honored as CRN 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 Women in the Channel and was awarded Top Gun 51 Channel Executive in 2019 for her executive vision, innovation and advocacy of the indirect channel. LATINA Style announced McLin as 2018 Top 12 Corporate LATINA Executives of the Year and won a Gold Stevie for Woman of the Year in the Business Services Industries in 2019 along with a Bronze Stevie for Woman of the Year in Business Services Industries in 2020.

McLin serves on the Board of Directors for Texas Conference for Women, and Girls Inc., and serves as Board of Director at Luminoso and nDivision, two for-profit tech companies. McLin holds a BBA in Accounting & Business Management from University of Texas in San Antonito University and an Executive Business Administration and Management degree from University of Texas in Austin. McLin lives in San Antonio with her husband, and their two sons. For fun she likes playing golf, fitness and spending time with her family.

Carrie Palin

SVP & Chief Marketing Officer
Cisco

Carrie Palin is the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Cisco. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, she leads the company’s multi-faceted marketing practice to fuel growth and impact in the market.

Palin and her team are responsible for increasing demand for Cisco products and solutions while evolving the company’s iconic and trusted brand. Her responsibilities include regional field, digital, and partner marketing, in addition to corporate brand strategy, sponsorships, and global events.

Under her leadership, Cisco was recognized by Interbrand as the number one pure B2B brand globally for four consecutive years. She also spearheaded a globally recognized transformation of Cisco.com, completely reimagining the digital experience for Cisco’s customers.

Before joining Cisco, Palin gained extensive experience leading enterprise marketing organizations in the technology sector. Most recently, she served as CMO of Splunk where she played a pivotal role in revamping the brand in 2019. Prior to Splunk, Carrie served as CMO at SendGrid (acquired by Twilio), and as the first CMO at Box. She was also Vice President of Marketing for IBM’s Cloud Data Services/Analytics Division. Carrie began her career at Dell and spent more than 16 years driving global go-to-market strategy and leading various marketing organizations across the data center portfolio.

Carrie is a strong advocate for Women in Technology and is currently an executive sponsor of Cisco’s North America chapter of Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE). She also serves on the board of the Texas Conference for Women, a non-profit organization dedicated to the professional development of women. Her leadership and industry impact have earned her several accolades, including her recent recognition on the Forbes World’s Most Influential CMOs list in 2023 and 2024. Originally from Austin, Texas, Carrie holds a B.S. from Texas Christian University and serves on the Board of Directors of NetApp and DemandScience. She and her husband Jesse are the proud parents of two children.
